Whether you’re looking for an authentic eggplant variety to make Japanese-style delicacies like Nasu no Asazuke, or you're just looking for something different, this variety is for you. The fruits are elongated, 25 - 40cm long, making for easy slicing, and the tender, thin skins are a glossy purple-black. Choose it for pickling, fermenting, or to liven up stir fries. The plants reach a height of about 75cm, so they’ll suit the average veggie patch just fine.

    How to Sow

Sow your seeds in spring after the last frosts, or get a head start on your crop by sowing in containers about two months earlier. You will only cover them with about 5mm of medium, so keep them moist.

    How to Harvest

Pick your eggplants when they are shiny and black. When they lose their shine, they are overripe. Use a pair of scissors or secateurs, and leave a short piece of stem attached to the fruit.
