Sow dahlia seeds indoors in late winter to early spring, or directly outdoors after the danger of frost has passed. Cover lightly (3–5 mm) and keep moist. Seeds germinate in 7–14 days at 18–24°C. Transplant when seedlings are 8–10 cm tall. Space plants 30–40 cm apart in full sun and rich, well-drained soil. Regular deadheading encourages more blooms. Flowers appear from mid-summer and may form tubers for lifting and replanting the following season.
