Seed-grown dahlias are a compact and lasting source of colour from midsummer till autumn. Mignon mix dahlias are known for their prolific blooming and offer an exuberant mix of bright colours borne on 40-50cm tall, bushy plants. The simple yet cheerful flowers range from red to pink, orange, and white with yellow centres. Perfect in pots, they’re equally happy in garden beds and borders. How to Sow
Sow dahlia seeds indoors in late winter to early spring, or directly outdoors after the danger of frost has passed. Cover lightly (3–5 mm) and keep moist. Seeds germinate in 7–14 days at 18–24°C. Transplant when seedlings are 8–10 cm tall. Space plants 30–40 cm apart in full sun and rich, well-drained soil. Regular deadheading encourages more blooms. Flowers appear from mid-summer and may form tubers for lifting and replanting the following season.
