The chilli-shaped pods of Marconi Red capsicums may make you pause as caution kicks in. But despite its red-hot looks, this is very definitely a sweet pepper variety that’s easy on the taste buds with lots of crunch. Get the chilli look without the heat. Fry it, bake it, stuff it, or eat it fresh from the garden. Expect a good crop when you grow Marconi Red in the summer’s heat - it’s great in containers too. Bonus tip: Pair it with Marconi Yellow for extra colour fresh from the garden.

  • Growing Information

    How to Sow

Soak seed for 12 hours prior to sowing. Sow in trays about 5mm deep. Water well and keep moist. If sowing early provide bottom heat to trays as seeds require a consistent temperature of 25 degrees to germinate.

    How to Harvest

As soon as your peppers look big enough to eat, you can start to harvest them. If you want red peppers, leave them on the vine until they colour up. Cut them off with a sharp pair of scissors, secateurs or a knife to avoid damage to the fruit or the plant.

    poor germination

Compared with the Jimmy Nardello, that I sowed at the same time, the germinaton rate of Marconi red has been very poor. I got only two seedlings out of the all pack. Disapointing.
