Thick, branched spires of tiny, tightly-packed, apple-green blooms, sometimes with a hint of gold, top off these 60cm high ornamental annuals. They're loved as an unusual addition to fresh or dried flower arrangements or as the ideal backdrop to unite a mixed border of flowering plants. Super-easy to grow, the interesting texture of the plants in bloom adds an interesting touch to ornamental gardens. It's very heat tolerant, but doesn't like any frost, so enjoy it as an unusual summer annual.

How to Sow
Amaranth is generally sown as a summer annual, but if you live in areas that have cooler, shorter seasons, sow seeds indoors in the early spring and transplant outside after all danger of frost has passed. For direct sowing, it is best to sow in rows and then thin out to approximately 30cm apart. Seeds germinate with soil temperatures between 18-25C and plants will grow best in full sun.
