In the Garden

A native to central and southern Europe, the European Larch will grow extremely quickly, reaching up to 50m. Once mature, the tree will broaden with a flattened crown and beautiful drooping branches. The leaves are a pale green turning a spectacular yellow in autumn before falling to reveal beautifully cracked bark. If you have the space this tree makes a great ornamental in the garden or at a local park.

Propagation

Coming from alpine areas this tree will tolerate moderate frosts. In cooler conditions the tree will have shorter needles, whilst in hot and humid conditions needles will be longer. The tree will tolerate most soil types and will look its best if given a high nitrogen feed when first buds appear.
