In the Garden
Native to areas of northern Australia and South East Asia, the Weeping Fig has gracefully drooping branches and large waxy deep green leaves that has made it a favourite for landscapers and indoor plantscapers. In cooler climates this tree will grow to a smaller size and makes a tough and attractive indoor plant.
Propagation
As a tropical species, this plant will not tolerate frost and in cooler climates will need to be protected in winter. A very versatile tree, this species manages well in poor, acidic and alkaline soils. It will produce fruit which can stain cars/walkways and it should be planted away from high traffic areas. It’s shallow and aggressive roots can affect structures. Best used as a pot plant!
