In the Garden
One of the most common under story trees found in Korea, Rhododendron schippenbachii produces masses of pink flowers in late spring. Growing up to 5m tall, it will look great as a feature tree, shrub or pot plant and will look spectacular in mass plantings.
A native to cool areas of Korea, this species is frost hardy and will grow well in all cool and temperate areas of Australia. It will grow in most soil types. For best results grow it in a slightly acidic soil mix in part shade, or full sun in cooler climates. For more flowers, dead head carefully and prune for more flowering shoots. Azalea roots live near the surface, so mulch well in summer to prevent the soil from drying out.
