In the Garden
Sporting dramatic foliage, the tree is usually multi-trunked, and the flowers develop at the top of the tree. It often grows as an hemiepiphyte on other rainforest trees. It also produces racemes up to 2 m long containing up to 1,000 small red flowers. Flowering begins in early summer and typically continues for several months.
Propagation
Adaptable and easy-going, it will thrive indoors in good light or outdoors and makes a fantastic indoor plant. As a tropical species, it prefers a frost-free environment, but can tolerate very light frosts. Drought tolerant when established.
