The Hinoki Cypress has traditionally been a popular species for bonsai. Whilst not necessarily the easiest tree to style, it is a very attractive specimen that rewards the patient enthusiast. Although it can be grown in all styles except broom, formal and informal uprights and slanting trunk styles are the easiest to achieve. It is an extremely hardy specimen and should be kept outside.
