In the Garden
An enormous tree in the wild, the Giant Sequoia has been known to live up to 3500 years. It is widely grown around the world including in Australia where there are introduced trees up to 150 years old. An evergreen that produces numerous cones, its main use is tourism due to its enormous size. A great tree if you have the space.
Propagation
A temperate tree, this species is shallow rooted and will do best in a moist, well drained soil. Protect from harsh frosts when small, but once established it will tolerate frost and mild drought.
