In the Garden
Grown for its ornamental qualities, this species is a very good lawn specimen and looks great in larger gardens and parks. With a dense rounded canopy, it provides great shade in summer and the leaves turn red in autumn giving it great colour all year round.
Ash trees will tolerate most soil types and in particular can manage highly alkaline soils better than most trees. Suitable for all temperate and cold areas of Australia this species is moderately frost tolerant and should be grown in sunny positions where they are not crowded, thus allowing the roots plenty of room to develop.
