A widespread species native to much of Europe. The European Beech can grow to over 40m in ideal conditions. If grown in open areas it will grow much shorter and thicker. Although a deciduous tree, It’s leaves will often stay on the tree until following spring making it an attractive species to use as a hedge.

Propagation

A very frost tolerant tree, this species will grow well in all cool and temperate areas of Australia. For best growth this tree will prefer cold winters and relatively even rain throughout the year. It also has a preference for slightly acidic soil that is well draining.
