In the Garden
The Canadian Hemlock lends itself well to ornamental gardening thanks to its attractive, weeping form and tolerance for a wide range of conditions. Excellent as a formal hedge, informal screen or windbreak, it is also beautiful on its own.
Propagation
It prefers slightly acidic to neutral soils rich in organic matter and likes a moist, well-drained position. This easy-going conifer tolerates sun and thrives in shade while having no objection to occasional hard pruning or frequent clipping.
