In the Garden
Native to the Western Himalayas, this tree grows naturally at an altitude of 1,500 – 3,000m. Grown widely in the west, the tree is a fast growing and has a beautiful upright growth habit with wide drooping branches. It can be grown in rows to make a beautiful soft screen for a garden or as a feature tree on its own. They will look there best grown in grassy areas away from paths where the lower branches can be left to spread.
The tree will thrive in all areas of Australia except for the tropics and will cope with all soil types. It likes a well drained soil and will not do well in very wet soils. Once established, the plant is extremely drought tolerant. making it great for dryer climates.
