In the Garden

Whilst not the tree for a small garden, the Common Ash is an attractive tall tree that has traditionally been a valuable tree for its rapid wood production. Able to be harvested after only 10 years, the wood from Ash trees is light in colour and has an attractive grain that makes it fantastic for making furniture.

Propagation

Ash trees will tolerate most soil types and in particular can manage highly alkaline soils better than most trees. Suitable to all temperate and cold areas of Australia this species is moderately frost tolerant and should be grown in sunny positions where they are not crowded, thus allowing the roots plenty of room to develop.
